The sitter is in half profile, looking to the left as viewed, and wears ecclesiastical dress Printed below the image: 'MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON'. The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: 'MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55 GRACECHURCH STREET, and 187A, PICCADILLY LONDON.' Robert Bickersteth was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1858.
