Portrait of Andrew Ure (1778-1857) Kensington and Chelsea with underground flows of waterHalf length portrait of Ure looking to the right as viewed. Ure wears a patterned waistcoat and checked trousers with a jacket, high white collar and dark tie. He holds the handle of an umbrella in his right hand. Not mounted, torn at each corner and therefore extracted from an album. Inscribed in ink verso: 'Dr Ure'. Andrew Ure was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1821. Original: albumen print. 1853
