Ure wears a patterned waistcoat and checked trousers with a jacket, high white collar and dark tie. He holds the handle of an umbrella in his right hand. Not mounted, torn at each corner and therefore extracted from an album. Inscribed in ink verso: 'Dr Ure'. Andrew Ure was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1821. Original: albumen print. 1853
